Journey to Hope
Blurb:
Brett Langley’s friends are worried that he’s made a big, big mistake in hiring a new man to help run Hope Ranch. Joel Harper, the local sheriff, is especially concerned as he’s been notified by the authorities that the man has only recently been released from Wyoming State Penitentiary.
Josh Kenyon has spent eight years behind bars for a crime he says he didn’t commit, and that he was framed for. Brett believes him, and when the feelings they have for one another become much more than mere attraction, he is determined to find someone who can prove Josh’s innocence.
But his good intentions cause unforeseen chaos when a man from Josh’s past arrives with only one thing in mind—silencing Josh forever.
Reader’s Advisory: This story contains some of the characters from the Ride ’Em Cowboy series, however it stands alone.
Excerpt:
“You’re upset about something,” Josh murmured, standing so close, his breath warmed Brett’s cheek. “Are you having second thoughts about hiring me, what with this parole stuff and the Sheriff?”
“No.” He turned to face Josh and their eyes met, their mouths now only inches apart. “I’m very glad you’re here.”
“Good.” Josh slid one hand behind Brett’s neck and squeezed gently. Brett leant forward and brushed his lips over Josh’s who reacted by drawing in a quick breath. Was he startled by the kiss? Wasn’t it what he wanted as much as Brett did?
“I—I’m sorry,” Brett whispered. “I thought…”
“You thought right,” Josh murmured. “It’s just that I haven’t been kissed by another guy in so long I’d forgotten just how great it feels.”
Brett smiled and wrapped his arms around Josh’s neck. “It can feel even better.” He moved in, taking Josh’s lips more firmly this time, running his tongue into the crease between the warm, soft flesh, pushing lightly for entrance. They both gasped as their tongues slid over one another, the slick heat of Josh’s mouth sending ripples of desire zipping through Brett’s body. There was only one way for this to go, and it would have right then if Jaz hadn’t chosen that moment to get in the mix.
The dog’s two front paws collided with Josh’s crotch as he jumped into the narrow space between their bodies.
“Ow, son of a b—!”
Jaz added insult to injury by pawing at Josh’s obvious bulge as if delighted to feel something that big and hard to play with.
“Ow!” Josh yelled again, while Brett tried to pull Jaz away, laughing at the top of his voice.
“Oh, my God, Jaz—you bad boy!”
“Think it’s funny huh?” Josh growled, nursing his erection. “How to kill the moment, Jaz!” He started to laugh too then he grabbed Brett and hauled him back into his arms. “Show me how that kiss goes again,” he muttered. “Felt so damned good.”
“Yes, it did.” Ignoring Jaz’s indignant barks at being shooed away, he took Josh’s mouth again in a long, searingly passionate kiss.
“Oh, dear God,” Josh gasped when they came up for air. His vision was slightly blurred until he refocused on Brett. “Is this a good idea?”
“Probably not,” Brett replied, his lips touching Josh’s as he spoke softly. “I’ve only known you a day and a half. We’re gonna be working together twenty four seven. You have a criminal record. You could murder me in my bed—and yet I can’t find anything wrong with this.”
“I promise I won’t murder you in your bed,” Josh said.
“What I want you to do in my bed is to fuck me so hard I won’t be able to walk without the feel of you, hard and deep inside me.”
“Jesus…”
“Just let me get Jaz outside. I love my dog but I don’t want him being part of a three-way.”

A Highlander in LA
An 18th century time travelling Scot finds the man of his dreams in present day Los Angeles.
When on duty LAPD officer, Darren Holden, is told to check out a possible dead body lying in an alleyway, he finds a man who is unconscious but very much alive. Not only alive, but gorgeous—and wearing a kilt. Darren is sure he knows the man, he just can’t remember where or when they might have met. It isn’t until that night, unable to sleep, that he realises the stranger is a man he’d been dreaming of for some time—a man who had made love to him night after night.
The Last thing Duncan MacGregor remembers is that he was home in Glen Ardor, Scotland, betrothed to Margaret MacAllister as a bond between their two feuding clans.
Darren isn’t sure if Duncan is playing a game, suffering from amnesia of just plain nuts, but his attraction to Duncan outweighs his scepticism and he takes him home, determined to find the truth.
Duncan believes he was enchanted by a witch who told him his destiny was not in Scotland, nor to be married to Margaret but to have a life of love and adventure with a man—the man he had dreamt of night after night—Darren.
As much as Darren wants to believe him, his common sense warns him of the sheer impossibility of Duncan’s story. Nevertheless, the overwhelming sexual attraction both men feel for one another leads to a night of passionate lovemaking.
Even then, Darren’s logical mind refuses to accept that such a thing is possible, but when a dangerous event threatens to tear them apart, Darren must be a believer or lose Duncan forever.
Excerpt:
Darren fell silent for a long moment but didn’t let go of Duncan’s hand. More than anything he wanted to believe what this beautiful man was telling him, but it all sounded so fuckin’ out there, and yet he couldn’t come up with another explanation that sounded any less bizarre. Memory lapse, perhaps, but there was something else about him, the sincerity with which he told Darren his version of his past.
“I believe you,” he said quietly. He had intended to say, ‘I want to believe you’ but changed his mind at the last second. It seemed to him that more than anything Duncan needed to feel he hadn’t been thrown into some bewildering place with no one to help him—whatever the reasons might be. Even if it was just a case of memory loss, he imagined that to be pretty disconcerting. He put his free hand on Duncan’s shoulder and squeezed. “And I’ll do everything I can to help you sort things out.”
“Thank you.” Duncan inched closer to Darren and leant forward, matching Darren’s move until their lips met in a hesitant, gentle kiss. Gentle, but loaded with a fervour that set every fibre in Darren’s body on fire. He pulled Duncan into his arms and deepened their kiss, gasping with delight when Duncan eagerly responded.
God, but here’s my fantasy come true, he exulted. This gorgeous, incredible, slightly crazy man is here with me, holding onto me as if his life depended on it and kissing me like no one ever has before! Jesus, his lips, his tongue—wow, he’s amazing.
“Mmmpf…” Darren caught his breath and leant back just a little. “Where’d you learn to kiss like that?”
“I’ve never kissed anyone like this afore,” Duncan said, wrapping one arm around the back of Darren’s neck, keeping his lips just a tantalising inch or so from Darren’s. “You’re my first.”
“Really?” Darren locked eyes with him, looking for a teasing gleam. There was none. “I’m your first?”
“Yes.” Duncan ran his tongue over Darren’s lower lip. “I’ve never done this afore wi’ man or woman, except, o’course, my mam or my friend Fiona, but just a peck on the cheek, y’ken.”
Oh, my dear God—he’s a virgin. But the way he kisses, he’s a total natural! He slid his hands under the scrubs top. The firm flesh that met his touch was warm and smooth as silk. He moved further down over the bulge in the Scotsman’s too-tight pants. Duncan raised himself up and pressed against Darren’s searching hand.
“Oh, but that feels bloody wonderful,” he whispered in Darren’s ear.
“You feel bloody wonderful,” Darren whispered back, his own cock tenting the fabric of his jeans. “Can I take you to bed?”
“What’s wrong wi’ right here?”
“There’s more room on the bed.”
“Ah—and we do need to get oot o’ these clothes.”
“Yeah.” Darren stood and gave Duncan his hand. “I want to feel your amazing body all over me.” Hand in hand, they hurried into the bedroom.

The Final Chapter?
Book eight in the My Vampire and I Series....
A thousands years old artefact is said to possess the power to reverse time and immortality—but is the price of that power too high to pay?
Several months after Dakar’s demon army was defeated and Dakar killed in the conflict, Andrew Berés is still haunted by the memory of Dakar telling him there is a talisman that would reverse his immortality and allow him to live a normal life with his lover, firefighter Tommy Cordain.
Despite Master Vampire Marcus Verano’s doubt that the Talisman of Ardocan actually exists, Andrew is determined to find the truth of it once and for all. His obsession leads him, Tommy, and their vampire friends on a journey to the ancient ruins of Babylon and to the remains of an underground city—the City of Ardocan—where legend has it, the Talisman is buried, its secrets hidden from eyes and minds for thousands of years.
But danger from enemies and traitors, both human and demonic, is never far away in the war ravaged country of Iraq, and Andrew may find out that the price he has to pay in order to obtain the Talisman, is greater than he had ever dreamed

Blood Lust
A demon assassin is sent to destroy Marcus Verano and his loyal friends - both human and vampire, but his plans are thwarted when he falls under the spell of the blood lust cast by Andrew Berés - vampire.
Tommy Cordain and his vampire lover, Andrew Berés, have been living together for several months. For obvious reasons Tommy has kept his relationship with Andrew as much of a secret as he can, especially among his fellow fire fighters. But when a vengeful demon invades their lives, taking over Tommy’s body and lusting after Andrew, all that changes.
Lord Kardis, the ruler of the Underworld, is out to exact revenge on Marcus Verano and his friends for foiling his plan to take over the world through a demon Pope. He sends Dakar, his right hand man, to kill Marcus and any vampire allied to him, but Dakar’s plans go awry when he meets Andrew and decides to do that which is forbidden - mate with a vampire.
Disgraced, his thoughts of revenge now include Lord Kardis himself, and he raises an army to overthrow Kardis, then defeat Marcus and claim Andrew for his own. But Dakar has reckoned without the combined forces of Tommy and his vampire and human friends who will stop at nothing to defeat Dakar and his demon horde.

GayRomLit New Orleans 2011
I will take away many memories of the first GayRomLit retreat - a gathering of authors and readers who love the male romance genre. First of all let's just say it was a smashing success - far beyond the expectations of the organizers, Carol Lynne, Ethan Day, Lynn Lorenz and your truly. Held in the historic and beautifully refurbished Bourbon Orleans Hotel in the fabulous French Quarter we enjoyed the sights and sounds of New Orleans right on our doorstep every time we stepped outside for a break from all the great things going on - the first night meet and greet in the ballroom, author signings, readings, wine and cheese party, Hurricane party, group meetings round the pool etc, etc.
Not to mention the Riverboat cruise where authors and readers met and mingled...and the pub crawls where there were some hot men ready to entertain us with eye candy to make even the strongest knees weak! Gosh... it all now seems like some kind of great dream where everything just went so well. We were thrilled that so many people, authors, readers and publishers could come together to make this dream a reality.
Our thanks must go to the publishers who supported this venture not only financially but with their much appreciated presence - MLR Press, Total-e-bound, Resplendence Publishing,Loose ID,Amber Allure,Torquere and Dreamspinner Press. Their generosity was part of what made GayRomLit such a great success, and they all enthusiastically announced they'd be there at the next one!
So hope to see you all again - and many more new faces too - when we meet again at the Hard Rock Resort and Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Oct. 18th, 2012!

A nice review for A Portrait of Emily
Aunt Lynn at Jessewave Reviews has given A Portrait of Emily a good, insightful review:
Here's a part of it...
I trust Bowie to give us a solidly-written, complex murder mystery, and this story delivered. Even with everything going on, it didn’t feel like it was over-packed with plot: the continued effects of Emily’s molestation on her and those around her; the reveal of Anthony’s childhood; the reappearance of Jeff’s ex, Joey; the murder of both Joey and Emily’s father; and the child prostitution ring. While we know who kills Joey (we are there when it happens), the reveal on the murder of Charles Hastings was unexpected for me, and in the end, it all wrapped up neatly.

New release April 25th!
Alex Brady was looking for some excitement in his life, but nothing could have prepared him for what a trip to Tuscany would bring him—excitement, yes, but with an undercurrent of danger that could possibly end up costing him far more than the price of the vacation.
When Alex tells his best friend Russ of his proposed trip to Tuscany, Russ tries to dissuade him, especially when Alex explains he’ll be renting a car and making his own way around a foreign country. Russ is sure Alex will get lost or mugged.
On his first night in Florence, Alex meets Gavin Andrews, a handsome Scotsman, and looks forward to a more than pleasant start to his ‘trip of a lifetime’.
But Gavin disappears without a word, and though disappointed by the Scot’s apparent lack of interest Alex continues with his tour of Tuscany in his rented car, staying overnight at the Villa Lorenzo, a converted farmhouse run by two gay men, John and Alfredo.
Alex is shown a portrait of Lorenzo, the original owner, and that night Alex has a strangely sensual dream, that comes to an abrupt halt when Lorenzo warns him that Gavin is in danger.
What follows is far more excitement than Alex ever bargained for – a kidnapping, a murder, and ultimately an offer of marriage!
Truly, for Alex this is the trip of a lifetime.

No excuses
Tardiness isn't usually a fault of mine - but got to say it's been an age since I posted here - with so much has been happening to get in the way of keeping my blog up-to-date.
First and foremost, as y'all probably know by now, is the super-duper m/m gathering that Carol Lynne, Ethan Day, Lynn Lorenz, Amanda Young and yours truly are busy organizing for our debut in the Big Easy on Oct 13-16th 2011. We're hoping this will be the first of many - and judging from the response from all of you, looks like that is a certainty!
Next, I've been busy doing my favorite thing - writing. In addition to my January releases Nowhere to Hide, Saddle Up 'N Ride and A Portrait of Phillip, I have completed the sixth and final chapter of My Vampire and I - Blood Lure to be released in March and a fun romp through Italy titled Trip of a Lifetime - release date April - both titles released by Total-e-bound.
Here's the blurb for Blood Lure:
Jared Lantos and Andrew Berés — two vampires, once lovers, now foes, struggle to find love and forgiveness while battling those who would keep them from ever trusting one another again.
While awaiting to be tried for the murder of a fellow vampire, Jared Lantos meets Joey Ryan, a young mortal, and is immediately drawn to him. Despite his conviction that the life of a loner is what he craves, Jared finds himself falling in love with Joey. The loving bond between Jared and Joey is strengthened when Jared cures Joey’s father of his dementia.
Meanwhile, Andrew discovers that the accusation of murder he’d brought against Jared was false, and seeks forgiveness from his one time lover. While in LA, Andrew chooses Tommy Cordain, a young fireman, to satisfy his need for blood, but against his better judgement, he is unable to forget the attractive young man. When the real murderer targets Andrew for the ‘final death’ by setting fire to the hotel where Andrew is staying, Tommy rescues him, and Andrew is forced to have him remember their shared night of passion.
Believing they know who the real murderer is, Jared and Andrew confront the person, but the truth when revealed, is even more terrible, and could threaten the lives of their friends and lovers.
Sounds good huh?
I'm also really happy about the re-release of A Portrait of Phillip in ebook format. This was my first published novel and has been re-edited and released by MLR Press. "Phillip' is the first in a series that follows the lives and adventures of Peter Brandon, a celebrated artist and his lover Jeff Stevens, a private investigator.
More of those to follow.
So, I haven't really been lazing around - and I'll do my best to keep this blog more up to date than in the past
Cheers, and remember, if you want to meet your favorite authors and mingle with other readers who love m/m romance - come to New Orleans in October and have a 'bon temp' !!

Let it snow, let it snow!
Hard to believe isn't it that next month the Yuletide will be upon us. I was lucky in that total-e-bound accepted my Christmas story - A Special Christmas - as part of their "Yule Be Mine" collection. It's due out on Dec 13th in ebook, and you have to love that cover! TEB's art department always does such a great job.
The story is pure romance - a love-lorn guy, a log cabin, a roaring fire, now all he needs is another guy to go with it all. Well, it's Christmas when wishes come true, and Santa isn't going to let our hero down. So, don't forget, this Christmas, or Hanukkah, upload A Special Christmas onto your Kindle or Nook or Sony reader or iPod - we've got 'em all covered - and enjoy!
Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving too!

In praise of older women
Recently I was asked by a friend of mine if I'd mind escorting her widowed aunt to a special presentation of the local ballet company. I had met Sheila only on one prior occasion some years before, and remembered her as affable but couldn't quite remember what she looked like. Anyway, I told my friend I'd be delighted and called Sheila to ask if she'd like me to pick her up, but she said, no, she'd rather drive herself and would meet me at the theatre entrance.
When I got there I looked around, scanning the crowd for my friend's aunt Sheila. The only woman I could see standing alone and obviously waiting for someone was a rather chic looking lady fashionably dressed in black with a large red rose pinned to her lapel.
I approached her carefully. "Sheila?"
She gave me a lovely smile and held out her hand. "You must be Jim. Thanks you so much for agreeing to spend time with an old broad!"
She looked so elegant in her black brocaded coat and matching skirt, her hair beautifully coiffed, that I found myself wishing I'd dressed accordingly - not in a coat and skirt - but in something a bit smarter than my beige slacks and blue polo.
As we walked inside she took my arm and I could actually feel the eyes of many people upon us. I handed over the tickets and we went to the bar for a glass of wine. We stood chatting before the show and Sheila told me of her life in dance when she was a young girl.
"I always wanted to be a prima ballerina," she said wistfully, "but had to settle for being a Vegas showgirl."
I could tell there were many stories hiding behind her twinkling blue eyes, and I recalled that my friend had told me her aunt had been 'quite the free spirit' in her youth.
Just as we were about to mount the stairs to take our seats a young girl walked up to us and put her hand on Sheila's arm. "I just want to tell you that you are so beautiful," the girl said.
"Why, thank you," Sheila said, with a smile, and I intuited by the way she accepted the compliment that this was not an unusual occurrence for her. I imagined that Sheila had been told she was beautiful by many men and women during her life, and even now despite the tell tale lines around her eyes and mouth, she still looked stunning.
She squeezed my arm and whispered, "Not bad for seventy-four, eh?"
After the show we went for a late supper and once again I could feel the stares of the other patrons as Sheila vivaciously regaled me with hilarious tales of her life upon the 'wicked stage'.
I was quite sorry to have the evening end, but Sheila insisted she had to have her beauty sleep. I escorted her to her car, she kissed my cheek then slid onto the driver's seat with a dancer's elegance.
It was one of the most memorable evenings of my life, and something I hope to repeat often in the years to come.
As Mark Twain said, 'Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter'.
I think that is the creed by which Sheila has lived her life - and it shows

October at last
Finally, the suffocating desert heat is on the wane and we can breathe some rain-fresh air. Vegas has its charm, though mostly for the tourist; when you live here, 6 months of grinding heat can start to be just too much.
So, it's autumn and not a day too soon, say I.
Blood Relations my new vampire story will be released on Nov 22nd and A Special Christmas sometime in December. Until then, With a Little Help From My Friends, a story of pure romance is proving popular. For an excerpt visit:

Good news yesterday from LAMBDA. My novel Time after Time (see below) is a finalist for a Lammie Award - LAMBDA's annual literary award for gay fiction. Winners will be announced on MAy 28th in NYC - only sorry I can't be there - but my fingers will be crossed, along with everything else. But sticking with the Olympics ideal - it's not the winning , it's the participating - or something like that!

I Like Cowboys!
When I was a kid there was nothing more exciting for me than to go to a Western movie. Even now I tune in to Encore's Western channel and catch some of the oldies but goodies, starring the likes of Gary Cooper and Jimmy Stewart - though I don't recall either of them riding a horse like the gentleman on the right! Needless to say, this post is to tout the release of Ride 'em Cowboys, in print, due out March 15th. Yee-haw! Click on the cover for more info on these two super sexy stories with hot dudes in leather chaps - or should it be, leather chaps in hot dudes? Either way - enjoy!

Cowboys!
Total-e-bound.com is issuing both my cowboy stories in print next month in one volume - to which I say - Yippee-eye-oh-kyay - or something equally corny! Title with be Ride 'em Cowboys! and the original cover (see right) will be used. I'll establish the link once I get the release date - until then, curb your enthusiasm. I know y'all can't wait for another taste of baccy and leather!
